Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, and obesity have emerged as leading global health threats, driven largely by modifiable lifestyle behaviors. In Pakistan, the growing burden of NCDs is exacerbated by rapid urbanization, dietary shifts, physical inactivity, and rising tobacco and alcohol consumption. This study adopts an evidence-based public health approach to investigate the impact of lifestyle choices on NCD prevalence across diverse demographic groups in Pakistan. The methodology combines descriptive statistical analysis, comparative risk assessment, and visual analytics to examine associations between behavioral factors and chronic disease outcomes.Findings reveal that high caloric intake, processed food consumption, and inadequate physical activity are strongly correlated with increased rates of obesity, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. Smoking remains disproportionately high among males and adolescents, while alcohol-related complications—though culturally stigmatized—pose significant health risks in underregulated areas. Mental health conditions were also found to co-occur with physical inactivity and poor diet. The analysis further demonstrates that structured public health campaigns have a positive, though limited, effect in promoting behavior change. These insights underscore the urgent need for comprehensive lifestyle-focused health policies in Pakistan. The study concludes that integrating adaptive technologies such as explainable and agentic artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen personalized risk prediction, enhance campaign efficacy, and promote long-term behavioral compliance. Targeted interventions, supported by cross-sectoral collaboration and digital health innovation, are essential for reversing the rising trend of NCDs and improving national health outcomes.
